Right, I must admit to something,
I have been so peeved off with Commodore saying that they are bringing
out a CD drive for the A1200, and then saying that they aren't bringing one
out that I went out and bought a new CD32.
If anybody is thinking about buying a CD32, I suggest that you DO!
I have been playing LIBERATION on it for 25 hours a day, and the game is
exellent with the added speech and CD music!
Has anyone out there bought LIBERATION for the A1200?
Could you get it to install on the Harddrive? I certainly couldn't get it
to run from my Harddrive !?! (This was one of the reasons I bought a CD32,
just so I could play LIBERATION ! !)
The other reason was so I could keep you up to date on EVERYTHING "AGA" !
*************************************************************************
JUST BEFORE CHANNEL Z WAS RELEASED, IT HAS COME TO OUR ATTENTION THAT
COMMODORE **ARE** GOING TO RELEASE A CD ADD ON FOR THE A1200!!!!!
THE UNIT WILL **NOT** SUPPORT THE FMV FORMAT THOUGH BUT WILL MOST
LIKELY RETAIL FOR AROUND £200 - £250 SO ITS GOOD NEWS FOR ALL YOU LOT
OUT THERE THAT HAVE WAITED AND WAITED FOR ONE TO COME OUT !!
IT ALSO LOOKS LIKE COMMODORE ARE GOING TO GIVE US WHAT WE WANT AT LAST!
(See the Commodore feature!)
*************************************************************************
Exciting news on the A1200 PD front, I have just finished putting together
one of, if not THE biggest collection of AGA Public Domain Software in the
Universe!
By the time you read this, I will have put together our NEW A1200 ONLY
Public Domain Catalogue Disk! Which also includes some Great Utilities!
The catalogue disk is available for only £1.00 (inc P+P) cheques made payable
to Mr D.Busby, or is FREE if you order ANY of the PD that has been reveiwed
in this Issue!
(Please state that you are ordering from Issue 5 to qualify for the free
catalogue disk.)
Well, what do you know! I picked up CU AMIGA the other day (end of March)
and they had some shocking news!
NO RALLY FOR AMIGA! was their headline, refering to that exellent PC
game with those rather sexy looking graphics!
Erm, wait a minute, didn't CHANNEL Z tell you that in the March/April
Issue? which was released on the 1st March?
Remember where you here the HOTTEST news FIRST ! ! !
Three words spring to mind when talking about games,
T a c t i c a l F i g h t e r E x p e r i m e n t
or TFX to those who are drooling over it!
Well, its on its way (it should be with us in July!) On the A1200 it
will be HardDisk installable, but WON'T have as much detail as the PC
version. Although CD32 users will have the FULL PC version with ALL the
colours/shading and stuff! (Look out for a Full review soon, If
it comes out of course!!)
In the months of March/April, I visited a fair number of Computer Shows,
and some of the stuff that was on offer at some of them was, to say the
least a bit dodgy. I was a bit dissapointed to see things like Internal
180Mb IDE Harddrives with the word "UNTESTED" on them, selling for £20.00.
I mean, who in their right mind would buy one, some poor teenager would
buy one with his last £20.00, only to get it home to find that it is
totally Knackered! I also saw Phillips Monitors (Not switched on of course)
being sold for as little as £75.00.
With a World shortage in monitors at the moment, I suspect that a few people
will have bought one, only to find that that too was knackered.
So come on Amiga users, AND sellers, we all have one thing in common -
-----
AMIGA
-----
Lets stop ripping each other off at these so called "Computer shows", all
they turn out to be are Junk sales.
Im not getting at ALL the companies though. Take Telescan Computers of
Blackpool, they had an exellent stand at some of the shows I visited,
and had some exellent Software on offer. They had a "table/stand"
whatever you want to call it! at the Norbreck Castle show in Blackpool,
with monitors showing the likes of Subliminal XTC!
I heard one PC owner telling his "mate" all about "How good these PCs
really are and how the graphics are cool". He soon left when I told him
it was an AMIGA displaying those "cool" graphics!!!!!
I attended the Winter Gardens show in Blackpool as a seller, rather than
a buyer, it was an experience in itself!
I was quite astounded in the amount of people that came up to us and said,
"Do you do that Channel Z Disk Mag?", and was amused at the reaction when
I said "Yes we do, I'm the Editor!" There was handshakes and congrat's
and everything!
So you can see that not ALL Amiga owners are out to rip you off.
The ones that are though are thoughtless people who just couldn't care how
the AMIGA goes. Take one chap that was selling BUG Joysticks for less than
£3.00, I asked him why they were so cheap, his reply was ----
"Cause their nicked mate!" Is this the right attitude? I think NOT.
Right, now i've got that off my chest.......
In this months Issue, we have some rather nice things for you.
There is some exellent music and some rather good utilities,
including the Exellent A1200 Diagnostics! Your Amiga will never be ill
again ! !
***** SOMETIMES, A1200 DIAGNOSTICS WILL SAY THAT YOU HAVE A ROM *****
***** FAILURE AND THAT YOU ALSO HAVE A COLLISION FAILURE. *****
***** WHY IT DOES THIS, IM NOT CERTAIN. IT WORKS FINE FROM A *****
***** HARDDRIVE THOUGH ?!?!? *****
We are pround to include Reflections of Innocence, a picture that recently
won the Max Graphics Gallery Competition in a recent Issue of AMIGA FORMAT!
Also there is a new feature starting this Issue, I have invited AMIGA
Artist Paul Horton to have a say on things to do with the AMIGA.
I think you will find it quite interesting. Another new feature is our
Questions and Answer section which I mentioned a few issues back,
I have had so many letters asking weird and wonderful things that I have
decided to devote a whole section to it!
Also on the disks are the excellent Panta Rei Demo plus the latest
version of SYSINFO (3.22) VIRUS CHECKER (6.34) and KillAGA (2)
(Athough Virus Checker will most probably have been updated by the
time you read this!)
OK. I had to say this, I know that it has nothing whatsoever to do
about computers, but what the HELL Happened to MAN UNITED in the COCA
COLA CUP Final!
I know some of you out there will enjoy football as much as Computing,
so I thought I'd add this bit of text that was handed to me after the
Match...... by an Everton supporter.
TO ALL MANCHESTER UNITED FANS
-----------------------------
Whilst congratulating you on your success, I would like to remind you that
since you last won the title :->
LIVERPOOL won it 11 times and the European Cup 4 times
EVERTON were Champions 3 times.
A spacecraft has landed on Mars.
We have had 5 Prime Ministers.
There has been a War in the Falklands and the Gulf.
The Berlin Wall has come down.
Communism has broken down in Russia.
Elvis has died and been seen in Tesco's.
So before you start gloating,
Remember:
It's not winning the league but retaining it that matters........
P.S. I've heard that Nelson Mandela is Cra**ing Himself. The last time
Man UTD won the League, he went to jail for 25 years!
-----------------------------
I found this to be quite amusing, even though I am a UNITED supporter,
_
and have been since I was about this big :-> ( )

/ \ me! (age 1 day!)
I apologise to those of you that dont like Football, but this section
hasn't even taken up 1k on the disk, so I had to add it !!!!
Anyway back to Computers!

In May last year,
The all new A600 was launched to an enthusiastic crowd at Wembley !
As we all now know, this was another of Commodores BIG mistakes !!!!!
Psygnosis and Microprose were committing themselves to the CDTV !?!
(Why?). Plus the whole country was going mad over the UKs first
Virtual Reality Film - The Lawnmower Man !!
In June,
The smartcard (PCMCIA) was being called the answer to Piracy with loads
of companies saying that they will bring games out on Cards. Hhmmmm!
New games for release were - Pacific Islands,Striker,Eye of the Beholder 2
and The Addams Family.
As always though, (with summer just around the corner) there wasn't much
happening on the Amiga Scene.
Well, what more can I say, not a lot really but,
Things aren't happening like they used to on the AMIGA scene, everything
seems to happen at a snales pace! (Just like this time last year!!)
We are all promised one thing, and then it doesn't happen for months
afterwords, just take a look at TFX to see what I am talking about,
we were promised it in April, then in May, then in June and now we have
to wait till July for it, I'll put a bet on with D.I.D who are producing
it that it doesn't come out until December!
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question of the Issue........
Will we see TFX before X-Mas ???
------------------------------------------------------------------------
See you all next Issue...... Darren.
P.S. Its my Birthday on the 25th May !!!! (All presents gratefully
accepted!!)
P.P.S CONGRATULATIONS TO MANCHESTER UNITED FOR WINNING THE
1993/1994 PREMIERSHIP TITLE
FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!
The final whistle has just been blown in the
Coventry "v" Blackburn game!
Blackburn needed to win to keep United on their toes, but
they lost the match 2-1 !!!!!!!!!!!
